The activated carbon filter can effectively remove low molecular weight organic substances,free oxygen, odorous substances, and heavy metal ions in the water.

Working principle

The activated carbon filter mainly uses activated carbon with high carbon content, large molecular weight, and large specific surface area to physically adsorb impurities in water, thereby meeting water quality requirements.
When water flows through the pores of activated carbon, various suspended particles, organic matter, and other contaminants are trapped. Meanwhile, chlorine (hypochlorous acid) adsorbed on the surface of activated carbon undergoes a chemical reaction on the carbon surface and is reduced to chloride ions. This effectively removes chlorine, ensuring that the residual chlorine in the effluent is less than 0.1 ppm, which meets the operating requirements of RO membranes.
Over time, the retained matter in the activated carbon pores and between particles gradually accumulates, increasing the pressure difference across the filter until it becomes ineffective. Under normal circumstances, based on the pressure difference before and after the filter, reverse water flow is used to backwash the filter medium. This strips away most of the retained matter adsorbed in the activated carbon pores, which is then carried away by the water flow, restoring the adsorption function. When the activated carbon reaches its full saturated adsorption capacity and fails completely, it should be regenerated or replaced to meet engineering requirements.
